How To Start Working As A Freelance Writer - List Of Prompts
In order to get a job as a freelance writer, you may have to have a sample essay to give to potential clients in order to show them how well you write. A freelance writer is very good at writing certain types of papers. Not every freelancer can write every kind of paper. Once you know what papers you write better, you can let your clients know what your area of expertise is. You can also use it to search and bid for different jobs that meet your criteria.
When you are required to write a quick paper to prove your skills, it may be necessary to have a list of prompts to help you get started and get the assignment completed in a timely manner. When you are a freelance writer, it is imperative that you are able to write articles in the designated time that you have agreed with the client in. If you told your client that you would have the paper done in a day or two, you won’t have time to overcome writer’s block. Therefore, you can use some prompts to get you on the right track and get you working towards the completion of your job.
When you are stuck and you can’t figure out where to go next with your topic, try these three simple exercises to get yourself writing again.
- Ask yourself if you had to explain your topic to a small child how you would do it. For example, if you are asked to write a blog article on how to write an essay, think about how you would tell a small child how to write the essay. By breaking it down into easy to understand concepts, you take away the intimidation.
- Try to make the topic funny. Write something funny or ridiculous about your topic. You can write about how if you can save money by eating bananas and pickles. Anything ridiculous will work and get you writing fast about your topic. Be sure to switch to a more serious discussion in your actual article.
- Do some general brainstorming. Write down any and every word that you think about when you think about your topic. This can be a way to help you develop an outline which will help you write your paper.
You should be able to use these three prompts to get yourself writing about any topic. If these don’t work, then you should just take a break and come back later and try again.
